Unboxing Topbox: July 2018
I don’t know if it was intentional but there’s a certain theme about July’s Topbox – can you spot what it is? (If you’re new here: Topbox is a beauty product subscription box that costs $12, no shipping. It usually includes 4 deluxe samples, though I’ve occasionally received more than 4 samples, bonus trial items, and full-sized products.) Check it out: all pink everything! This box appears to contain THREE full-sized products (!!!), one generous sample, and a bonus complimentary sample:
NOTE Hydra Color Lipgloss: I’m not familiar with this brand but I’m LOVING the slightly shimmery pink colour of this full-sized lipgloss! I cracked it open out of curiosity and it looks a bit sticky (boo) but smells absolutely delicious – kind of like vanilla birthday cake. I’m not a fan of sticky stuff on my lips but the fun, summery colour might be enough to make me look past it. We’ll see!
Kiehl’s Calendula Herbal-Extract Alcohol-Free Toner: You can’t see them in the photo, but this toner has some sort of weird plant-looking floaties in it. I can’t tell what they are from the ingredient list, maybe something to do with calendula flowers? Anyhow, I like Kiehl’s products and this is a generous 40 ml sample.
Pretty Woman NYC Nail Polish: Another brand I’m unfamiliar with, but it’s a full-sized nail polish (which I’m always happy to receive) and it’s… slightly shimmery pink! Love it!
The Beauty Crop Fabulous Flocking Lashes Mascara: This looks to be full-sized to me, or is an extremely generous sample. In keeping with the theme, the tube is pink but the mascara is waterproof and black. If you’ve been following along, you know I have sensitive eyes and tend to shy away from trying new mascara unless it’s supposed to be really spectacular. This one apparently contains argan oil and jojoba, but I don’t think that’s spectacular enough for me. Pass!
Bonus complimentary Dove Exfoliating Body Polish: I love bonus samples and I can’t wait to try this one! The packaging suggests Dove’s body polish comes in three varieties and the one I received is crushed macadamia and rice milk. It comes in a 30g non-resealable (boo) foil-backed soft plastic package that looks like a container but isn’t. It should be enough for 2-3 applications.
Redemption! Last month is the first time I’ve seriously considered cancelling Topbox but now I’m back on board. If you’re interested in subscribing, head on over to their website at http://topbox.ca/. There wasn’t a wait when I first signed up but other subscription box junkies have mentioned landing on a waiting list for anywhere from a month or two, to upwards of 6 months (!!!), before receiving an invitation to join.
